Hopes for the near future

When I dream, I dream big! Hope is the fire that keeps us alive and lights our paths to the future.

Hope

In 2018 I had the opportunity to hear Angela Davis at the National Meeting of Black Women +30 at the PUC in Goiânia. In this rich listening experience, I kept in mind the idea presented by Angela: “the community makes the force and guarantees security”, she recounted how her time in jail made her understand the importance of creating and ensuring a network of security and support.

That's what I've been believing!

When I think about hope, the future and prospects for change, I understand that we cannot and will not do anything alone, if aquilombar is a perspective of care and ancestral struggle. I am pleased and honored to be part of a movement that is bigger than me and that will continue to advance even after me. When we talk about the social movement of black women, we talk about SANKOFA, we talk about looking to the past to build a just future.
